is an artist specializing in sound. She studied mathematics, chemistry and fish ecology at the University of Oslo. She works with sound environments and ecosystems that are physically and aurally difficult for humans to access. She creates music albums, multi-channel sound installations and concerts.
During the Congress there will be a listening of Jana’s Spring Bloom in the Marginal Ice Zone record. The composition was created from recordings made in the Barents Sea near Spitsbergen, in the so-called marginal zone of the glacier – the place where the eternal ice meets the sea. Due to the climate warming, the zone, which is one of the largest storages of carbon dioxide on the planet, is undergoing radical changes, affecting the lives of many organisms.
